Home Health Aide (HHA)

Job Summary

The Home Health Aide (HHA) will provide personal care and assistance to individuals who are elderly, disabled, or recovering from illnesses or surgeries. The primary goal of the HHA is to help clients maintain their quality of life while allowing them to stay in their homes rather than move to a hospital or facility, assisting with daily activities, personal hygiene, and health monitoring. HHAs will work under the registered nurse (RN) or physician’s direction to ensure the client’s comfort, safety, and well-being. Key Responsibilities

Personal Care Assistance
  • Help clients with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
  • Assist with mobility, including transfers from bed to wheelchair and walking assistance.
  • Assist with feeding, including meal preparation and feeding clients who require assistance.
Health Monitoring
  • Assist with routine health checks such as monitoring blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and weight (under supervision).

Companionship and Emotional Support

Safety and Mobility Assistance
  • Ensure a safe home environment by identifying potential hazards and recommending changes.

Documentation and Reporting
  • Keep detailed records of client activities, health observations, and any changes in condition.
  • Report progress and concerns to family members or the supervising nurse/physician.

Qualifications and Skills

Education and Training
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an approved Home Health Aide training program.
  • Certification or registration as a Home Health Aide, if required by state regulations.
Experience
  • Previous experience as a Home Health Aide or in a similar caregiving role is preferred.

Qualifications and Skills

Education/Experience
